Administration

The administration of Rivier College's various academic, service, and business operations is overseen by a close-knit network of trained professionals dedicated to the spirit and mission of the Catholic college. Their goal is, first and foremost, to serve students, and provide a caring atmosphere of academic excellence, spiritual guidance, and professional preparation. They also recognize the College's role as a cultural and intellectual resource for the city, the state, and the region.

Dr. William Farrell
President

Dr. William Farrell is Rivier's 11th president, the first man and the first lay person to serve in that capacity in the College's 75-year history. He served as interim president from September 2001, until his appointment as permanent president in Spring 2002. Dr. Farrell was Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire from 1992 to 2000. He served for eight years as president of Plymouth State College, and previously was associate vice president for educational development and research at the University of Iowa. He also served on the faculty of the University of Chicago, the University of California-Berkeley, and Marquette University. A professor of English, Dr. Farrell earned his bachelor's degree and master's of business administration at Marquette, and a master's degree in English and doctor of philosophy degree at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Dr. Farrell is chairman of the state's Postsecondary Education Commission and past president of the New Hampshire College and University Council.
