According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), U.S. nursing schools turned away 65,766 qualified applications from baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs in 2023, with faculty shortages cited as a major reason. In the same year, an AACN survey reported 1,977 faculty vacancies among 922 U.S. nursing schools.

Dr. Tracy Hardy, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, was honored with the 2016 Presidents' Good Steward Award by Campus Compact for NH in recognition of her service contributions to state communities and her efforts to advance public service on the Rivier University campus. Dr. Hardy, Associate Professor of Nursing, serves as the community health screenings coordinator for Rivier’s graduate nursing programs. She leads health screenings at local schools and non-profit organizations and coordinates Rivier faculty and students to staff grant-funded clinics at St. Joseph Hospital.
