At-Risk Youth Conference at Rivier UniversityThe Departments of Psychology and Criminal Justice at Rivier University are hosting a one-day conference Supporting At-Risk Youth with Communities of Care on Friday, March 31, 2023. This conference will provide an overview of the services and interventions available to at-risk youth in the state of New Hampshire and surrounding communities.

“Youth who experience abuse and/or neglect are at a higher risk for physical and mental illness and reduced educational attainment,” shares Dr. Elizabeth Harwood, Department Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Rivier University. “When youth are supported by positive role models in their community, these risks decrease substantially. By engaging in dialogue with state and local leaders, our goal is to improve the quality of life for this vulnerable population—our youth.”

An impressive list of speakers will share their ideas and discuss the resources available to support at-risk youths. Leaders from the NH Division of Youth and Family Services Child Protective Unit and Juvenile Probation and Parole, as well as community-based and residential services Community Teamwork, the Justice Resource Institute, and NFI Massachusetts, will guide the discussion. The conference agenda and speaker biographies can be viewed at rivier.edu/conference331.

The Supporting At-Risk Youth with Communities of Care conference is free of charge and open to the public. It will be held on March 31, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dion Center on Rivier University’s campus at 420 South Main Street, Nashua, New Hampshire. A boxed lunch will be available for purchase ($12).
