What motivated you to become a psychologist and pursue your doctorate? I completed my master’s degree in 2008 and immediately immersed myself in clinical work. I enjoyed the fast-paced environment of working in a therapeutic day school, but juggling home-based family therapy in the evenings had a significant impact on my family’s quality of life. I explored careers that would align with my growing family, and the most logical (and exciting) conclusion I came to—becoming a psychologist—meant pursuing my doctorate. As a psychologist, in addition to providing therapy, I could perform evaluations, consult, and teach. Increased autonomy and flexibility meant that I could spend more time with my family. What’s your typical workday? It honestly depends on the day. I divide my time between my private practice, overseeing clinical supervision, and teaching at Rivier. Depending on the day, I might do all three! I enjoy the variability and flexibility of my schedule, which permits me to work from home on occasion, something my dog certainly appreciates. How did Rivier prepare you for your career? Rivier, and in particular the faculty in the Psy.D. program, best prepared me for my career by teaching me to think critically but kindly.  Get more information today!
