Noise & Cell Phone Policy
The Rivier University Regina Library is committed to providing a welcoming environment that is conducive to a variety of study needs.
These guidelines were developed in response to input from students, faculty, and visitors about noise levels in the library. Noise should be kept to a minimum throughout the library. All library employees are authorized to resolve any noise complaints.
- Quiet Study areas are designated in the library. Conversation and phone use are not permitted in these areas. Quiet Study areas are located in the book stacks, and in the Quiet Study Room located on the 2nd floor. Please do not talk on your cell phone in the hallway outside of the Quiet Study.
- Speakerphones may not be used for audio or video calls. To avoid disturbing other patrons, please use earphones or headsets when engaging in any sound-producing activity on cell phones, computers, radios, gaming devices, and other audio/video players. Sound that is loud enough to disturb others, even with headphones, is not allowed in any area of the library.
- Group Study is permitted in all places that are not designated Quiet Study areas. However, conversations should be kept at a low volume. Students may reserve a group study room (Group Study B, C or F) or just walk into the open studies (Group Study A, D, or E).
- Cell-phone friendly areas are located at the front entrance, in enclosed stairwells, and in the Library Café. Please be considerate of others when using your phone.
