New International Student Checklist

The Rivier community is excited to welcome you to New Hampshire and our Nashua campus! New students at Rivier can refer to the following checklist as you prepare for your journey to the United States.

  1. Set up a RivNet online accountThe Rivier Network (RIVNET) is provided to support the academic and administrative efforts of the students and employees of the University. Your username and password will allow you to log on to any public computer on campus, access University e‐mail, MyRiv, and Canvas for e‐learning when required by your professor.
    1. Visit https://it.rivier.edu/ and select “SET UP A RIVNET ACCOUNT”.
    2. You have already received your Rivier e-mail address and student identification number via e-mail.
  2. Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)Rivier University has implemented multi-factor authentication (MFA) for its campus email and Office 365 web services. MFA greatly enhances the security of our email and data infrastructure.
    1. Use your log-in credentials, preferably from a laptop or device that is not your mobile phone, here.
    2. Additional information about MFA, provided by the University’s Information Technology staff, can be found here.
  3. Access the Colleague Self Service portalThe Colleague Self Service portal offers access to academic records, course registration, financial aid information, and much more.
    1. The portal can be accessed using your Rivier login credentials.
  4. Access Canvas – Canvas is an online learning management system utilized by Rivier’s instructors and students to access relevant course materials over the Internet.
    1. Using your login credentials, Canvas can be visited by using the following link (https://rivier.instructure.com/login) or by utilizing the Quick Links functionality on the rivier.edu home page.
    2. Course materials in Canvas will be published one week prior to the beginning of the course.

  5. Rivier’s Academic Calendar is available online.
  6. Submit any information related to transfer credits to the CS/CIS Academic Advisor for a preliminary review.
  7. Submit SEVIS check-in documents, including your United States address and telephone number.
  8. Pay the full balance or set up a payment plan for the University’s tuition and fees.
