Behavioral Assessment Team
At Rivier University, the health, safety, and well-being of each student is at the forefront of our daily work.
Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT)
At Rivier University, we prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of everyone in our community. To maintain a positive learning environment and address any disruptive behavior, the University has established a Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT). This team, made up of dedicated staff, manages concerning or disruptive behaviors and threats to individuals.
If you have a concern needing an immediate response, contact Rivier Public Safety at (603) 888-1666. Always dial 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
We understand that personal information is sensitive and must be handled with care. While we are committed to protecting privacy, there are situations where complete confidentiality may not always be possible.
We are here to support you and maintain a safe and supportive community for all.
For incidents involving disruptive behavior on campus, refer a student to the Behavioral Assessment Team if there are concerning actions or threats to self and others.
What Happens When A Report Is Filed?
- Initial Assessment: The report is reviewed and assessed to determine the seriousness and potential risk involved.
- Risk Assessment: Using frameworks like the NABITA Risk Rubric or similar tools, the BAT assesses the level of risk posed by the reported behavior.
- Gathering Additional Information: If needed, the BAT may gather more information through interviews, documentation review, or consultations with relevant parties.
- Development of Action Plan: Based on the assessment, the BAT develops an action plan. This plan typically includes interventions and support measures tailored to the specific situation and individuals involved.
- Implementation of Interventions: The BAT implements interventions aimed at mitigating risks and supporting the individuals involved. This may include counseling, referrals to support services, monitoring, or other measures.
- Monitoring and Follow-up: The BAT monitors the situation to ensure the effectiveness of the interventions and may conduct follow-up meetings or assessments as necessary.
- Collaboration and Referrals: BAT may collaborate with other campus or community resources and make referrals to external agencies if needed for comprehensive support.
- Documentation and Reporting: All actions taken and decisions made by the BAT are documented for accountability and future reference.
By implementing these measures, the BAT aims to foster a safe and supportive environment while addressing behavioral concerns in a proactive and structured manner.
