New Student Housing Assignments

New incoming students for Fall 2025, both first year and transfer students, will receive information via their Rivier student email account starting in mid-April regarding the housing assignment process. New students will have the option to request roommates, search for roommate matches in the MCR Housing portal, or be paired with a roommate based on their housing profile.

Timeline

  • Mid-April – Students will receive housing instructions via their Rivier email account.
  • Monday, July 7, 9 a.m. – Deadline for roommate requests.
  • Week of July 14 – Housing and roommate assignments will be available in MCR Housing.
  • Mid-August – Move-in time sign-ups open; instructions will be sent to students’ Rivier email accounts.
  • Sunday, August 31, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – New Student Move-in Day

Current Student Housing Selection

Rivier’s housing lottery and room selection for the 2025-2026 academic year will take place in March and April.

Lottery System

Students are prioritized by class rank as determined by the Registrar’s Office as of Feb. 1, 2025.

Current students receive:

  • 1 point if they have between 0-29 credit hours
  • 2 points if they have between 30-59 credit hours
  • 3 points if they have between 60-89 credit hours
  • 4 points if they have 90 or more credit hours

Current residents receive one additional priority point.

Online Selection Process

New this year, housing selection will take place online in the MCR Housing portal.

  1. Review and sign the 2025-2026 Housing Contract in MCR Housing > Applications no later than Monday, March 24 at 8 a.m.

  2. Complete your MCR Housing profile and questionnaire.

  3. Submit a $250 housing deposit no later than Monday, March 24 at 8 a.m.

    • Go to Colleague Self-Service > Student Finance > Make a Payment > Continue to Payment Center.
    • Once redirected, select the Deposits tab.
    • Choose “Returning Stu Housing Deposit” from the dropdown.
    • Click Continue, select your payment method, and submit payment.
    • The deposit will be credited to your Fall 2025 semester bill.
    • Refund Policy: If you withdraw or change from resident to commuter status, the deposit is refundable only if notification is received by May 1 via email at housing@rivier.edu.
  4. Create your initial roommate group in MCR Housing > My Roommates based on the first process you wish to participate in, no later than Wednesday, March 19, at 5 p.m.

  5. Watch for an email before each selection process for your assigned selection time.

  6. Log in at your assigned selection time and select a room, if available.

  7. Continue participating in selection processes until you have successfully secured a room.

  • Initial grouping deadline – Monday, March 24 at 8 a.m.
    • Village lottery times sent – Monday, March 24 by 5 p.m.
    • Village selection – Tuesday, March 25
  • Regrouping deadline 1 – Tuesday, April 1 at 8 a.m.
    • Brassard lottery times sent – Tuesday, April 1 by 5 p.m.
    • Brassard selection – Wednesday, April 2
  • Regrouping deadline 2 – Monday, April 7 at 8 a.m.
    • Presentation lottery times sent – Monday, April 7 by 5 p.m.
    • Presentation selection – Tuesday, April 8
  • Regrouping deadline 3 – Friday, April 11 at 8 a.m.
    • Trinity/Guild lottery times sent – Friday, April 11 by 5 p.m.
    • Trinity/Guild selection – Monday, April 14

Housing Options

Starting in Fall 2025, housing fees will include access to a parking permit without an additional charge.

Rivier Village

  • Four-person, single-sex apartments with living room, full kitchen, two full bathrooms, in-unit washer and drier
  • 16 apartments available during Housing Selection = 64 beds
    • 12 apartments – four single bedrooms
    • 4 apartments – two double bedrooms
  • Rivier Village residents may opt out of a meal plan or select a Village-specific meal plan option
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Rivier Village residents are not eligible to receive the Campus Resident Grant as part of their financial aid package

Brassard Hall

  • 11-person, single-sex suites with living room, kitchenette, two full bathrooms, four double bedrooms and one triple bedroom
  • Nine suites available during Housing Selection = 99 beds

Presentation Hall

  • Three-person, single-sex pods with one single bedroom, one double bedroom, and shared bathroom
  • 11 pods available during Housing Selection = 33 beds

Trinity Hall

  • Mostly double-occupancy rooms with a few singles, triples, and a four-person room, communal bathrooms, communal kitchens and lounges on each floor
  • Floors are separated by sex – designations will be determined year-to-year
  • Room types:
    • Doubles – 45 double-occupancy rooms available during Housing Selection = 90 beds
    • One Quad – Trinity 222
    • Singles and Triples – not available during housing selection, held for medical accommodations until late summer

Guild Hall

  • Mostly double-occupancy rooms with some triples, communal bathrooms, communal kitchens and lounges on each floor
  • Wings are separated by sex – designations will be determined year-to-year
  • Spaces available to returning students will be determined based on number of submitted housing deposits and contracts
